New board member turns personal struggle into Transplant House awareness charge
Transplant House of Cleveland in Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood is preparing to celebrate its fifth anniversary July 20 and welcomed a new board member ahead of its Transplant House of Cleveland Cares 5K Run/Walk June 9.

Last July, Mona Kernagis and her husband, Tony, were in Cleveland for evaluation and preparation for Mona’s lung transplant at Cleveland Clinic.
During the dizzying, anxiety-fraught schedule of consultations with specialists and tests, the Valparaiso, Indiana, couple came across a brochure for a University Circle nonprofit organization called Transplant House of Cleveland.
