Transplant House of Cleveland Opens 8th Family Guest Suite

Due to the growing demand for its accommodations, Transplant House of Cleveland added one more apartment to its offerings on E. 115th Street this month!  The eighth family guest suite was made possible through continued generous gifts from the team we have come to call our “Comfort Specialists!” Roger Magowitz, “team leader,” sent out the call to his friends in the bedding industry, and like last summer, Transplant House was quickly showered with mattresses, headboards, sheets, mattress protectors, pillows, and even another super-deluxe electronic recliner.

“Roger has many friends, a big heart and a passion to make things happen,” explains Erica Miller, board member and a person lucky enough to be one of those friends.  We thank these donors, who responded to Roger’s call:

  • Shawn Beck,  Mattress Firm, for mattresses
  • Randy S. Long, Leggett & Platt Consumer Products Group, for headboards
  • Jerry Wootten, HomTex, Inc. for “DreamFit” sheets
  • Arnold Hershbain , Pure Care, for bedbug mattress protectors
  • Anthony Joseph, “I Love My Pillows” for pillows!
  • Andrew Cohen, Human Touch LLC for electronic recliner

Also part of “Comfort Specialists” are three creative, energetic women with an eye for color, a passion for fun interior design, and a penchant for a bargain:  Margo Walker, Becky Medearis, and Erica Miller.  They bring new meaning to “power shopping,” and rapidly purchased the many, many, many additional pieces of furniture and home items that cause Transplant House guests to say “Everything I needed was right there!”  From shower curtains to behind-the-door mirrors, can openers to microwave ovens, decorative pillows to curtains, artwork to kitchen towels, and dishes to doormats, they brought the effort to a homey, cozy, completion.  We would be remiss if we did not recognize the men who hung curtain rods and grab bars- Jim Walker, and his father, Jim Walker.  And thank you to Dave Pulice, for cheerful heavy lifting!

This newest apartment was a quiet beginning to Transplant House’s “Phase Two” expansion plan.  Many more donors will be needed to complete that next phase of growth, intended for mid-2015.  Gifts of goods will be gratefully accepted.  Apartment naming opportunities are also available for gifts of $25,000, given over two years.
