Christmas Came Early to Transplant House!

Look at this pile of gifts that came last week by personal delivery from Norwalk, Ohio!  Kathi and Russ Flew were our surprise Santas, putting their love for their son, Dylan, into action by giving these gifts in his memory. Dylan saved five lives through organ donation, and Kathi and Russ have been very active in the promotion of organ donation since. Through their relationships in the organ donation community, they learned about the Transplant House wish list, and fulfilled these needs: a laptop computer for family use (with case, external disc drive, USB storage device!), a printer/copier/scanner, 24 cherrywood hangers, 8 sets of sheets, 7 hair dryers,  and 4 sets of towels! No partridge in a pear tree, but that’s only because we have a “no pets” rule at Transplant House! Kathi, helped by Maria Temple and St. Alphonsus Church raised money through a bake sale to purchase these gifts for our guests!  “I never knew you could raise so much money through a bake sale!” giggled Kathi. Meeting Russ and Kathi was more precious than the gifts they brought. After their Transplant House visit, they attended the liver transplant support group at Cleveland Clinic- joining the recipient of Dylan’s liver for that expressive time of thankfulness for the gift of life. The board and guests of Transplant House honor Kathi and Russ’s courage, activism, and generosity, and wish them a restful, joyous holiday.
